We provide you with the most complete guide to creating your first online course and provide the best learning experience.
The most successful instructors plan their online courses prior to enrollment to ensure they meet the needs of students so they can achieve the learning objectives of the course. We would like to share with you our recommended course design process based on instructional design best practices and principles. The Teaching Center resources will give you the structure to create a high-quality learning experience on G-Talent. While you don't need to follow this process exactly, we are sharing it to help you create your course.
Step 1. Identify course topics and target students
You want to teach a subject you love and know a lot about. As a G-Talent Instructor, it's important to define yourself as an expert, but you also want to teach the lessons your students need. Think about who the course is for and what students might be interested in it. Then use our Marketplace Insights tool to help identify, validate, or refine course topics based on competitive and market needs.
Step 2: Develop learning objectives
Based on the target group you have identified, consider what students in your target group will learn in the course. Determine the course learning objectives, knowledge, skills, and attitudes students should have after completing the course. This will help you improve the course content and ensure that you achieve those objectives.
Step 3: Course Outline
It is based on the curriculum. Here you can decide how to structure and visualize its content to help your students achieve their learning goals. Make sure to include practical activities and assessments such as quizzes, exercises, labs, etc. so that students can apply what they have learned and assess their level of understanding.
Step 4: Plan practical activities and assessments
Adding activities and assessments to lessons is a great way to engage students. They can practice what you've taught them and start thinking about how they can use what they've learned in their daily work. These exercises help students assess their level of knowledge and understanding.
Step 5. Create content
Once you know how your class will be organized, the next step is to prepare to record the class. Most teachers find that bringing a script to each class (or writing an outline) helps them finish faster and achieve better results. This step also includes creating videos, articles, resources, exercises, and assessments to share in your course.
Step 6: Publish the course
Upload course content to G-Talent and write course website copy and automated messaging. All submitted courses are reviewed by the Trust & Safety team before they are published on G-Talent to ensure they meet our requirements.
Step 7. Sell courses
Start making noise and let everyone know about your class. Share coupon codes with friends and colleagues and collect feedback on your courses. If you choose to participate in the G-Talent marketing program, you can take advantage of promotions on the G-Talent.net website. This will allow you to spend more time on your content and less time on marketing the course.
Step 8: Interact with students
Once you've published your course, it's time to communicate with students. Answer questions, respond to comments, and add your own comments to students' work.
Step 9. Stick to your content
It's important to keep your course content up to date. Update your courses as industry or technological changes require. Use the feedback you receive from students or simply go around and share.
